My Social Experiment Day 5

It Friday and the final day of my social experiment *tears of joy*. Since Fridays are casual at my job, the guy was back in his comfort zone. Blue jeans and a white button up. But my eyes twinkled with glee when he selected these shoes. Ooooh weeee these shoes are FIYAH! And that's exactly what my feet felt like after wearing them for 2 hours. But I digress...

Here is the final outfit

I had fun with my social experiment. Here are some things I learned:
1) The guy is a little bit on the conservative. I now understand why he gives me the side eye on my choices of outfits.
2) We have two distinct views on being sexy.
3) He loves button up shirts.
4) I need to purchase more skirts.
5) When it came to accessories, he was out of his element. A dear in headlights.
6) How to communicate my thoughts on things he's uncomfortable with.

What do you think of his collection? Would you be willing to let your signature dress you for a week?

My Social Experiment Day 4

****BREAKING NEWS: THE GUY DID NOT DRESS ME TODAY****

I was going to a networking event after work and I didn't want to play russian roulette with the guy. It was for the best.

I attended Cocktails with Belle at The Park hosted by Essence magazine relationship blogger Demetria L. Lucas. She currently traveling the country promoting her book "A Belle in Brooklyn: Your Go-to-Girl for Advice on Living Your Gest Single Life". Check out her blogs on Essence and her website. She is a breathe of fresh air from the naysayers who constantly want to paint black woman as the...woe is me I can't find a man because I'm too successful...box.  I discovered her blog through my fellow California State University, Long Beach alumni girlfriends Angel & Sennie of CruxNY (check out their jewelry website www.cruxny.com).

I had a great evening filled with tasty spirits and food.

My Social Experiment Day 3

Like Ice Cube said "Today was a good day". The selection process went very smooth. The guy must've woke up feeling himself channeling his inner Soulja Boy "Jump out of bed turn my swag on", because he was on it. He bought me a skirt, which was a female version of something he would wear. It was a cargo-esk skirt. Nevertheless, I loved it. I didn't have to do any coaching today. He was on it like white on rice. He was running late to work, so he left me to select the shoes. He gave me a few options to choose from and I chose neither. I was going for comfort today and he felt a certain kind of way about that. I probably would've been stunting if I wore the shoes he selected #kanyeshrug. My twitter followers gave him thumbs up. They said he finally stepped out of the "safe" mode and gave me a little flavor. We have a khaki cargo skirt, with a green shirt, silver hoops and necklace, with white sandals. What do you think? Did he do me justice? Are his personal stylist skills improving? Would you let him dress you?

My Social Experiment - Day 2

For Day 2 my guy and I had to get creative. He had to choose the outfit via video conference using the Tango app. (this is a great app - when its working correctly). My goal was to keep the momentum going AND to not let him off the hook of my social experiment.  I don't think he's as entertained as I am with my random and hair-brained ideas, but I'm happy he goes along, albeit reluctantly. Although he told me my closet was a mess, he was quasi familiar enough to navigate me to the specific section that he wanted to look at. However, this time around I gave him a little challenge.  I let him know the feedback I received on Twitter when I tweeted the Day 1 outfit.  Most felt he played it safe, but did a great job (as did I); and they thought it was easy because black goes with anything. They wanted to see some color and patterns. He didn't let them down.

It was pretty warm this day and he REALLY...REALLY...REALLY wanted to put me in a skirt. So he chose this cream and brown a-line skirt with a pair of shoes I haven't worn since Michael Jackson (RIP) was black. To be truthful, I totally forgot I even had the shoes. Whats even better, he got rave reviews for the shoes from some of my twitter follows. #fistpump. To top it off, he opted for a pair of rose colored earrings that matched the flower in the skirt. How do you think he did for Day 2? Did he step his game up? Or did he play it safe?

My Social Experiment - Day 1

A few weeks ago I was reading an article on Yahoo about a woman who let her boyfriend pick her clothes out for one week. I was thoroughly amused by the article and the clothes he ended up selecting (click here to read), and decided to give it a try. My goal was to give my guy carte blanche to choose my  clothes, shoes and accessories for one week. Hair wasn't an option since I currently have braids. If he could have his way, he probably would've taken them down.

Day 1:
I think he did a good job. He played it safe and kept it simple. A green button up shirt with a pair of black slacks, black heels and blue earrings. I pulled my hair back into a ponytail and the outfit was complete. The difficult part was having him get on board with my social experiment. I don't think he was comfortable with the idea BUT he did it anyway. He also pointed out a glaring void in my wardrobe...I didn't have any summer skirts *YIKES*. At first, I thought he was telling a fib. But when I went looking in my closet, he was right. Now I know what items I need to start purchasing. So what do you think of his outfit? Did he do a good job? Does he have what it takes to be a personal stylist? LOL
